Opis
The Ysperklamm gorge, which has been a natural monument since 1952, impresses with a natural spectacle of clear water that rushes over high rocks and narrow ravines, impressive waterfalls and spectacular rock formations.
The Ysperklamm is the largest and most impressive gorge in Lower Austria, and offers a special hiking experience. Well-secured bridges, staircases, wooden walkways and steps make the approximately one-hour ascent of the Ysperklamm Hiking Trail easier and take you through the characteristically narrow ravines, and past a number of waterfallslarge and small. Here you can experience the thunderous natural spectacle up close, and freshen up and cool off in small shallow water zones along the way.
The starting point for a hike through the Ysperklamm gorge is the Gasthof Forellenhof inn. After ascending to the “Ödteich”, a pond formerly used to float logs, you pass a wonderful interplay of water, wood and rocks. You will then reach a scenic lookout point with a stunning view of the tranquil and peaceful gorge. On the descent, you can either go back along the same trail, or follow the Druid Trail, which is a direct continuation of the Ysperklamm Trail. This trail invites you to explore mysterious stone arrangements such as the “Grand Cup”, the “Sitting Dog” or the “Stone Circle” (Druids’ meeting place)
