Opis

With a wealth of ideas and hard work, the dedicated team around Dr. Christoph Leditznig started the construction of the House of Wilderness in Lunz am See in autumn 2019.
The building, which is architecturally oriented towards nature, including the newly created meeting zone around the house, is not only intended to represent an international nature competence centre for scientists from all disciplines, but above all to serve as a hub and bridge to the Dürrenstein-Lassingtal Wilderness Area for interested visitors. In addition, the guided hikes with the wilderness rangers, which can be booked online, start from here.

The Rothwald, a primeval forest protected by its namesake Albert Rothschild, was integrated in 2017 as part of the UNESCO World Natural Heritage "Ancient Beech Forests and Primeval Beech Forests of the Carpathians and Other Regions of Europe" and is accordingly strictly protected. In order to nevertheless gain an insight into the sensitive ecosystem, interested visitors to the Haus der Wildnis museum are given the opportunity to do just that in an exciting and interactive way. The use of state-of-the-art technology and proven exhibition methods combines the classic museum visit with a (nature) experience in a class of its own. The themes of primeval forest, wilderness, fauna and flora and why their protection is so important are skilfully staged.

A café integrated into the building entices visitors to stay longer. The adjoining shop offers nice souvenirs of an exciting day at the museum for sale.
