Skrócony opis

The Burgenländischer Mariazellerweg leads you through many locations and landscapes in the Viennese Alps within Lower Austria.

Opis

Burgenländischer Mariazellerweg 06 starts in Eisenstadt and the first few kilometres take you in a southerly direction via Großhöflein to the famous Forchtenstein castle in the Rosalia mountain range. The highest point in the Rosalia mountain range is reached at Rosalia Chapel soon afterwards. From this point, the route goes downhill through Walpersbach to Pitten. Pilgrims now see the famous pine forests of the Steinfeld. The hilly landscapes of the Schneeberg region are reached once more at Würflach. One of the most attractive parts of the pilgrimage route leads through the romantic Johannesbachklamm ravine. We then head on via Grünbach to Puchberg am Schneeberg. The route then continues over Mamauwiese to the village of Schwarzau im Gebirge, the junction of many pilgrimage routes. When at the border between Lower Austria and Styria, we cross the Gscheidl summit towards the Lahn Saddle and Terz. The last few kilometres to Mariazell lead through the upper and lower Halltal valley to the place of pilgrimage.
